Madison Brown

The Achiever’s Scholarship is the reason I am at UC Berkeley. Cost of attendance makes it impossible for a lot of students to even dream of attending certain out-of-state and private schools, but The Rogers Foundation made it a reality for me. Because of them, I don’t have to face thousands of dollars of debt to get an education and pursue something I’m passionate about.

I applied for The Rogers Scholarship for the opportunity. Getting a full-ride scholarship is anyone's dream. I thought I had a pretty good chance of getting it and I was successful. It's taking these chances that can lead to the grandest of opportunities. Now I have four years of college paid for. Who would have thought?

I believe that learning is one of the best gifts given to society, and I want nothing more than to swim in its wonders for as long as I can! I would like to thank everyone at The Rogers Foundation for the scholarship that was given to me. I know that I would not at all have been able to afford the ability to attend an out-of-state college in New York without your help.

I am a Pre-Vet major and plan to specialize in animals of the African Safari and eventually live in Africa. This scholarship was a blessing. It has helped my family and myself out immensely… The best part of attending college is finding myself. Actually losing the self that I thought I was. I'm still me but I feel like I'm a new thriving and glowing person.

Sara Story, scholarship recipient

Jim and Beverly Rogers have made it possible for me to fulfill my dreams of going to university through their constant encouragement and financial support. Without their help, I would never have been able to attend a Division I school. Because of their assistance, I was able to follow my heart and pursue my passions, rather than worrying about money. Because of this, I have been a more involved and enthusiastic student, getting involved in my community and daring to dream bigger. The opportunities I have received have been innumerable. In a world where education is becoming harder and harder to afford, the Rogers provide the glimmer of hope for needful students. I am one of these very lucky students. I have even taken to calling them my “fairy godparents!” My future looks brighter thanks to the financial support provided by the Rogers.

With help from the Rogers, I was able to make my first international journey. I studied history in London, Dublin, and Edinburgh for seven weeks. It was the trip of a lifetime that opened up my eyes to the world around me. I learned a number of countless life lessons from this experience—a journey that was made possible by Jim and Beverly. They have helped me fulfill so many of my wildest dreams! Their dedication to education and blossoming young students make them an invaluable ally for students. I was so fortunate to have them on my team and I thank my lucky stars every day for leading me to them!
