Local Education Non-Profit CORE Launches “Jingle in July”

July 1, 2024

Firmly grounded in the notion that all students deserve an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances, local education non-profit CORE is launching its inaugural “Jingle in July” campaign to get a head start in its fundraising to ensure the organization can help support more than 450 Scholars and their families for the upcoming school year and holiday season. Beginning Monday, July 1 through Wednesday, July 31 the organization is seeking physical donations of new items and monetary donations. CORE will utilize the donations to engage its Scholar community with festive activities and provide essential resources for their academic, attendance, and social-emotional well-being.

Monetary Donation

CORE is seeking donations of $300 per family for 75 of its neediest families. The money will be used for purchasing individualized gifts based on each family’s need/wish list.

“We are excited to get a head start this year to ensure we can spread some holiday cheer to our Scholars and their families this upcoming festive season. Last year, we engaged with more than 400 Scholars and their families through our Holiday Express and Operation Santa programs,” said CORE Executive Director Jeff Jones. “In addition to our holiday celebrations, we provided much-needed gift cards and experiences, gifts, blankets, and food to many needy families. The generosity of our donors and community partners helps ease the pressure and stress that the holidays may bring for those that may be under-resourced.”

CORE’s mission centers around the belief that the most powerful way to ensure economic mobility and equity is to invest in children and their families over a long-term period and with a holistic approach. From two-generational programming to social-emotional learning, CORE is building an infrastructure for success to ensure that historically underserved students and their families can pursue choice-filled lives.

The impact of CORE on the Scholars, families, and community is profound and undeniable, particularly in the North Las Vegas zip codes that CORE serves. CORE Scholars historically achieve a compelling range of positive outcomes including increased GPA, higher rates of promotion to the next grade, higher high school graduation rates, and higher acceptance rates into college/vocational schools. CORE’s multi-generational approach also provides support for parents from program staff and community partners allowing families to better meet their fundamental needs, ensuring Scholars stay on track for school.
