With a mission to raise $10K in 90 minutes, Las Vegas’ premier variety show for a cause, Mondays Dark, has selected local non-profit CORE as its benefiting charity on Monday, February 19.  Featuring an eclectic cast of entertainers, musical acts, and performers with the theme of One Hit Wonders, Mondays Dark takes place at the popular off-Strip venue The Space (3460 Cavaretta Court). The $20 variety show is hosted by creator Mark Shunock and sells out regularly. Tickets for the show benefiting CORE are available now and can be purchased at Mondays Dark to Benefit CORE - The Space Las Vegas (thespacelv.com).

Recently marking its milestone 10th anniversary, Mondays Dark has partnered with 181 local organizations and raised $1.8 million for the Vegas community. One of the exciting components of each bi-weekly Mondays Dark show is a Silent Auction. Items including staycations, dining packages and culinary experiences, wine baskets, cigars, and more are available beginning Thursday, Feb. 15 at MDLV.Givesmart.com or via text MDLV to 76278.

Local education non-profit CORE is grounded in the notion that all students deserve an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. CORE empowers student and family success through enrichment and education. Currently, CORE is working with 437 Scholars and families and has a presence at four local schools.

The impact of CORE on the Scholars, families, and community is profound and undeniable, particularly in the North Las Vegas zip codes that CORE serves. CORE Scholars historically achieve a compelling range of positive outcomes including increased GPA, higher rates of promotion to the next grade, higher high school graduation rates, and higher acceptance rates into college/vocational schools. CORE’s multi-generational approach also provides support for parents from program staff and community partners allowing families to better meet their fundamental needs, ensuring Scholars stay on track for school.

“We are filled with gratitude and appreciation that Mark Shunock and Mondays Dark chose CORE as a benefiting partner charity,” said CORE Executive Director Jeff Jones. “There is so much talent in this town and we are excited to be a part of showcasing that talent. As a long-time Nevadan, I am always uplifted by the generosity of the Southern Nevada community.”
