The Beverly Theater Launches Ink Films

May 8, 2024

Las Vegas’ first and only indie film house, storytelling arena, and live music venue launches another first of its kind in downtown Las Vegas with Ink Films, a theatrical distribution arm of The Beverly Theater.

The entrepreneurial and innovative idea of Founding Creative Director and CXO, Kip Kelly, The Beverly Theater has tapped cinema veteran and current film consultant Mike Plante as Head of Distribution.

“Ink Films is a natural evolution and extension of The Beverly Theater and perfectly aligns with our mission to support and elevate indie artists and films,” said Kelly. “Storytelling starts with ink. We are excited to provide theatrical distribution of a variety of films, many of which are underrepresented. Even better, we are going to do it from right here in Las Vegas as the city further strengthens its connection to the movie industry.”

As Head of Distribution, Plante will work to acquire and distribute a variety of films that have not previously enjoyed proactive distribution. With a goal of creating a competitive collection of films that can reach theaters in every market, Ink aims to work with filmmakers and projects that need to be seen but may not have the industry representation needed to achieve that visibility. All acquired Ink Films movies will also be screened at The Beverly Theater.

Plante began his career in the film industry working in art house movie theaters, video stores, and film festivals in 1993 and saw no reason to stop. In addition to consulting for The Beverly Theater, he is a Senior Programmer for Short Films at the Sundance Film Festival, where he has worked since 2001. Along the way he has made non-fiction shorts for the New York Times and Field of Vision, and feature docs that played at many festivals and MoMA in New York City before being released theatrically.

“I'm looking forward to helping audiences discover more unheard or forgotten voices on the giant screen. We love connecting movies to movie theaters,” says Plante.
